Colin Morgan was born on 1st January 1986 in Armagh, Northern Ireland. Colin has studied at Dungannon college and in his third year he won the Denis Rooney Associates Cup rewarding the best student of the year. In 2004, he joined the Institute of Further & Higher Education Belfast where he obtained his National Diploma in Performing Arts (Diploma of Dramatic Art). Then he joined the prestigious Royal Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, Scotland where he graduated in 2007.
In 2007, he was chosen by Rufus Norris to play the lead role of the play Vernon God Little in London on the stage of the Young Vic as he had not yet completed his studies at the conservatory in Glasgow. Its role in theater was included in his final studies.
In 2008, he landed the role of Merlin in the eponymous BBC series, for which he won the Caron Keating Outstanding Newcomer at the Variety Club Showbiz Awards in 2008 and the National Television Award for Best Actor in 2013.
In 2010, he made his film debut when Darragh Byrne chose him to play a major role in his new movie Parked alongside Colm Meaney. Thereafter, he also played in several films like Island (2011), Testament of Youth (2014) alongside Kit Harrington and Alicia Vikander, Legend alongside Tom Hardy, The Huntsman: Winter’s War (2016) alongside Charlize Theron and Emily Blunt, Waiting For You (2018) alongside French actress Fanny Ardant, The Happy Prince alongside Rupert Everett, Emily Watson and Colin Firth and Benjamin (2018) alongside Anna Chancellor and Joel Fry.
Colin is also a great lover of theater and starred in several plays including All About my Mother (2007) alongside Joanne Froggatt, Our Private Life (2011), The Tempest (2013) alongside Roger Allam, Mojo (2013) alongside Ben Whishaw, Rupert Grint and Brendan Coyle, Gloria (2017) and Translation (2018) alongside Ciarán Hinds and Adetomiwa Edun.
